Gratitude coaching aftercare: a 7-day plan for lasting change
By Healing & Harmony Studio | September 29, 2026
Joy & Gratitude Coaching sessions are 45 minutes and $75. I’m based in Hillcrest on Jacksonville’s Westside, and yes, there’s free parking.

The single most important rule after Joy & Gratitude Coaching is this: don’t try to fix your whole life today. Right after your session in Jacksonville, jot down one clear insight, pick one small action to try in the next 24 hours, set a follow-up check-in, and start a 3 to 5 minute daily gratitude practice. Then give yourself 48 to 72 hours before any big life decisions.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the “one insight, one action” reset
After a coaching session, your brain is usually loud. New ideas, big feelings, sudden clarity. That’s normal. The trick is keeping it simple enough that you actually follow through.
24-hour checklist: Write down one insight in one sentence. Choose one small action that takes 10 minutes or less. Put it on your calendar. Then send one accountability message, to a friend or to me, so it doesn’t stay stuck in your notes app.
What I want you to avoid for 48 to 72 hours
I generally recommend you hold off on major decisions for two to three days. No quitting jobs in a rush, no relationship ultimatums, no expensive impulse “fresh start” purchases. Use that window to test tiny changes instead. Tiny changes are where lasting change usually starts.
If you’re commuting on Lenox Ave or Blanding Blvd, keep your aftercare portable. A voice note in the car at a red light is not safe, but pulling into a parking lot for two minutes to record your one-sentence insight works great. So does a quick note as soon as you arrive.
Days 2 to 7: the gratitude practice that actually sticks in real Jacksonville life
Most people don’t need a long routine. You need something you’ll do on busy weeks, on weeks when the weather is messy, and yes, during hurricane season when plans change fast.
My favorite 3 to 5 minute daily loop: 60 seconds of slow breathing, 2 minutes of gratitude journaling, then a 2 minute walk or gentle stretch to lock it in physically.
A simple 7-day checklist
- Day 1: One insight + one action scheduled.
- Day 2: Gratitude list of 3 specific things, not broad ones. “My coffee in Avondale” beats “my life.”
- Day 3: Quick reflection walk, even 8 minutes. Riverside and Murray Hill parks are perfect for this.
- Day 4: Pick one boundary you practiced, even small.
- Day 5: Write one “I’m proud of myself for…” line.
- Day 6: Repeat your original small action once more.
- Day 7: Review what worked, and decide what stays for next week.
Try not to add five new habits at once. One strong habit beats a messy stack of “shoulds.”
The “post-coaching checklist” tools I see people actually use
You don’t need fancy products for coaching aftercare. You need reminders that make the next right step easier.
A single notes page you don’t overthink
Keep one running note called “Joy & Gratitude.” At the top: your insight sentence. Under it: your one small action. That’s it.
A calendar reminder you can’t ignore
Set a daily 3 to 5 minute alarm titled “Gratitude, then go.” If you miss a day, you don’t restart. You just do it the next day.
Accountability that feels normal
A quick text to a friend works. A 10-minute check-in with me works too. Accountability doesn’t have to be intense to be effective.
Quick note for my Hillcrest, Riverside, Avondale, Murray Hill, and Lakeshore people: this routine is built to be appointment-friendly. You can do it in a parked car, during a coffee stop, or before you walk into the house and get pulled into everyone else’s needs.
When to reach out to me, plus the follow-up timing that keeps momentum
If you leave a session feeling lighter, that’s great. If you leave feeling tender or emotional, that can be great too. Joy & Gratitude Coaching supports emotional well-being and transformation, and sometimes that means things get honest before they get easy.
Reach out if you feel stuck on your one small action, if your thoughts start spinning into extremes, or if you want help turning your insight into a practical next step. I’d rather hear from you early than have you wait a week and decide “it didn’t work.”
“For me, every visit feels like a healing experience.”
one of our regulars
As far as timing, I like a brief follow-up or accountability check scheduled before you leave the first session, or within the next week. That’s usually when motivation is high and real life is trying to crowd it out.

A quick note on what Joy & Gratitude Coaching is (and what it’s not)
Joy & Gratitude Coaching helps you cultivate a positive mindset by focusing on what brings you joy and gratitude in life. It complements physical wellness practices and supports emotional well-being and transformation. If you’re pairing coaching with other self-care, you’ll usually get more traction when you keep your aftercare simple and consistent.
